Rumeen Farhana says ‘Roid’ left her emotionally overwhelmed
Member of parliament and politician Rumeen Farhana has heaped praise on the recently released film “Roid”, saying the film left her deeply moved and emotionally overwhelmed.
Speaking to the media immediately after coming out of a screening hall alongside actress Nazifa Tushi, Rumeen shared her reaction to the film, describing it as one of the most powerful cinematic experiences she has had in years.
“I have not watched a film in many years that left me this shaken. ‘Roid’ has completely overwhelmed me. For the first time in 16 years, I am speechless in front of a camera,” she said.
Struggling to define the film using conventional terms, she added that words such as “good,” “bad,” or even “excellent” felt inadequate in describing the experience.
“I honestly do not know how to explain this film. I am a movie lover. I spend my free time watching films and reading books. It has been a long time since a film affected me like this. ‘Roid’ has left me emotionally unsettled,” she remarked.
Rumeen also praised the film’s artistic execution, saying its performances and visual storytelling were inseparable from one another.
“I cannot separate the cinematography from the performances. I cannot separate the character of Shadhu from the actor who portrayed him. I cannot separate Tushi from Shadhu’s wife. Everything has merged into one. I cannot single out any one aspect,” she said.
Her comments have quickly drawn attention on social media, adding to the growing buzz surrounding Mejbaur Rahman Sumon’s directorial “Roid” and its performances, particularly those of Nazifa Tushi and Mostafizur Noor Imran.
