‘Roid’ to screen at Seattle International Film Festival
“Roid”, the latest film by Hawa-famed director Mejbaur Rahman Sumon, is set to be screened at the Seattle International Film Festival in the United States ahead of its domestic release.
The film, which had its world premiere earlier this year at the 55th International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) in the Netherlands, has already announced its release in Bangladesh during Eid-ul-Azha.
“Roid” has been selected in the Asian Crossroads section of the Seattle International Film Festival. The film will be screened on May 15 at 5:30pm and May 16 at 2:30pm (local time).
The film stars Mostafizur Noor Imran, Nazifa Tushi, and Gazi Rakayet in central roles.
Speaking about the story, director Mejbaur Rahman Sumon said, “The narrative revolves around a man, his mentally unstable wife, and a palm tree beside their home. Through this story, we have tried to rediscover the primal tale of Adam and Eve and reinterpret that age-old narrative.”
Promotional activities for the film’s release have already begun in Bangladesh. The song “Roide Aila Gaa Juraite” has been released, with lyrics, composition, and vocals by Rajib Ahmed Raju of the band Shohojia. The music direction, mixing, and mastering were done by Rashid Sharif Shoaib.
