Several called to join new cabinet as ministers, state ministers
Several members of parliament have already been called to take oath as ministers and state ministers in the new cabinet, scheduled to be sworn in this afternoon.
Khandaker Abdul Muktadir, MP from Sylhet-1 (City Corporation and Sadar), said he had been informed that he would be inducted into the cabinet as a full minister.
“I seek the prayers of the people of Sylhet and the country. I hope I can live up to the confidence the party has placed in me,” he told Prothom Alo.
He has been elected to parliament for the first time.
BNP leader Zahir Uddin Swapan has also received a call to take oath as a minister, reports Prothom Alo.
Senior BNP leader Salahuddin Ahmed has likewise been called to take oath as a minister, according to party sources.
Meanwhile, Mir Shahe Alam, elected from Bogura-2 (Shibganj), has been called to take oath as a state minister. He won the seat as a BNP candidate with the party’s ‘sheaf of paddy’ symbol. He currently serves as vice-president of Bogura district BNP.
Nurul Haque (Nur), elected from Patuakhali-3 (Galachipa-Dashmina) in the 13th parliamentary election, has also received a call to take oath as a state minister.
Another first-time MP, Shariful Alam from Kishoreganj-6, has been called to take oath as a state minister as well. He secured his maiden electoral victory in the recent polls and took oath as an MP today. He confirmed that he had received the call for induction as a state minister.
