Recruitment test for vacant posts of village police (Mahalladar) in Tetulia upazila of Panchagarh district was cancelled after none of the candidates could correctly and fully write the national anthem.

The written test was held on Wednesday at the Upazila Parishad conference room, with 38 job seekers competing for five posts under four union parishad.

Physical fitness was verified before the exam.

Confirming the matter, Tetulia Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Afroz Shaheen Qhosru, who chaired the recruitment committee, said the decision was taken to ensure transparency and select genuinely qualified candidates.

The upazila administration had advertised five posts -- one each for Tirnoi Haat, Tetulia, and Debnagar union parishad, and two for Shalbahan union parishad. The minimum qualification required was completion of class eight.

“It is unfortunate that candidates who have passed class eight could not write the national anthem,” the UNO remarked, adding that new recruitment notices will be issued soon.

He assured that the next exam will be held without any fee and expressed hope that genuinely qualified candidates will secure the jobs.
