A Bogura court today sent popular content creator Ashraful Alam, widely known as Hero Alam, to jail in a case filed over allegations of rape and forced abortion.

The order was issued by the Bogura Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal‑1, police confirmed.

Earlier in the day, around 2:30pm, police arrested Hero Alam from his car near Shajahanpur Police Station by setting up a barricade.

Mostafa Manjur, additional superintendent of police of Bogura Sadar Circle, told The Daily Star that an arrest warrant had been pending against him.

The warrant was issued on February 10 by the same court following an investigation report submitted by the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), Bogura.

According to the case statement, Hero Alam allegedly lured a woman with promises of making her a model and initiated a relationship on the pretext of marriage.

The woman later accused him of rape, physical torture, and said that she was forced to undergo an abortion after he declined to fulfil his promises.

Tribunal Public Prosecutor, Ali Asgar, confirmed that the court considered the investigation report before issuing the warrant and subsequently ordered Hero Alam to be sent to jail today.
