The government has reinstated Md Kohinoor Mian, former deputy commissioner (west) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), cancelling a previous order that had dismissed him from service.

According to a gazette notification issued today by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the earlier dismissal order against Kohinoor Mian in two departmental cases has been revoked following a review of his appeal.

The notification stated that two criminal cases filed in connection with the same allegations had already been disposed of by the court, after which Kohinoor Mian submitted a petition seeking reconsideration of the dismissal decision.

After examining the petition, the president of Bangladesh approved the cancellation of the dismissal order.

As a result, the order issued on February 22, 2011, removing him from service, has been annulled.

The notification further clarified that the period during which Kohinoor Mian remained dismissed will be counted as part of his service tenure. He will also be entitled to all outstanding salaries, allowances, and other benefits in accordance with existing rules.

The order takes immediate effect, the gazette confirmed.
