A court in Habiganj this afternoon granted temporary bail to Ferdous Ahmed Chowdhury Tushar, president of the Bahubal upazila unit of BNP in Habiganj, in a case filed against him on charges of threatening a police officer.

Sohel Rana, inspector of Habiganj Court, said Tushar was produced before the court of Judicial Magistrate Tanzina Rahman Tanin. Upon hearing a petition filed by his lawyer, the court granted bail until submission of the Judicial Police Report (BPR).

He was released on a bail bond of Tk 5,000.

Defence lawyer Enamul Haque Selim said the case was filed by Saiful Islam, officer‑in‑charge of Bahubal Model Police Station.

Earlier on Sunday morning, members of the Detective Branch (DB) of police detained Tushar following a circulation of an audio clip on social media in which he was heard verbally abusing the OC.
