Omicron: India records 578 cases, night curfew in Delhi from tonight
Omicron spread to two more Indian states with total count of the new Covid-19 variant going up by more than 156 in a span of 24 hours till this afternoon, the health ministry said.
According to the government data, India's Omicron tally increased to 578 today from yesterday's 422, reports our New Delhi correspondent.
Omicron has spread to 19 states and federally-run territories in India, up from 17 a day ago, with the latest addition being Himachal Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.
According to health ministry data, Delhi (142) has reported the maximum number of Omicron infections in the country, followed by Maharashtra (141), Kerala (57), Gujarat (49), Rajasthan (43), Telangana (41), Tamil Nadu (34) and Karnataka (31).
Night curfew is set to go into force from 11pm today in the Indian capital Delhi to check the spread of Omicron.
