Child artiste Wriddhi injured in Agargaon mugging incident

National Film Award-winning child artist Mugdhota Morshed Wriddhi has been injured in a mugging incident in the capital. Her father, Monjur Morshed Nayan, was also seriously injured in the attack.

The incident took place in the Agargaon area of Dhaka on Friday (April 3) at 6:45 pm, while they were returning from a theatre school. They were travelling in a moving auto-rickshaw when a mugger tried to snatch a bag. During the attempt, the vehicle lost control and overturned.

Both Wriddhi and her father were injured in the accident.They are currently receiving treatment at Dhaka Dental College. Doctors said Wriddhi suffered injuries to her teeth, while her father has severe pain in his leg. Both are under medical observation.


Wriddhi’s mother, journalist Rifat Anwar, said the incident happened suddenly while they were on their way back from the theatre school. The auto-rickshaw overturned after losing control during the mugging attempt.
Wriddhi won the National Film Award in 2020 for her role in the film “Gondi”.
