Bangladeshi film “Delupi" has been selected for the Red Lotus Asian Film Festival Vienna 2026 in Austria.

The festival will take place from April 23 to 26 in Vienna. As part of the programme, “Delupi" will be screened on April 25 at 1:30 pm (local time) at the historic Stadtkino theatre.

Earlier this year, the film was screened at the 55th International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) 2026 in the Netherlands. It received positive responses from both audiences and critics. This marks the film’s second major appearance at a European festival.

Produced under the banner of Footprint Film Production, “Delupi” represents contemporary Bangladeshi cinema on the global stage. Organisers have invited members of the Bangladeshi diaspora and film enthusiasts in Vienna to attend the special screening.

Director Mohammad Touqir Islam said the team is very happy and hopeful after receiving a strong response in the Netherlands. He added that the film’s selection in Austria is a big achievement for both the team and Bangladeshi cinema.

The name “Delupi” comes from Deluti Union in Paikgachha, Khulna. The story is inspired by the lives, realities, and relationships of people from that region. Although rooted in a specific place, the film reflects experiences that people across Bangladesh can relate to.

The film features local actors, and the shooting was also done in the same region. “Delupi” is produced by Footprint Production.
