Bangladesh women march into Asian Beach Games kabaddi semifinals in style

Bangladesh women’s team continued their winning spree in the Asian Beach Games kabaddi events as they stormed into the semifinals with a dominant 59–20 victory over Chinese Taipei in Sanya, China today.

While the women’s team were going great guns, the men’s team suffered their second consecutive defeat. After losing their opening match to Pakistan, they went down to Iran today by 47–31.

The women’s team’s second win of the tournament, after their 51–34 triumph over Thailand in the opening match, has not only booked a place in the semifinals but also guaranteed at least a medal in the tournament.

From the beginning of today’s match, Bangladesh kept Chinese Taipei under pressure. The first half was relatively competitive, but Bangladesh went into halftime with a strong 25–11 lead.

In the second half, the Bangladeshi players became even more aggressive. They completely dismantled Chinese Taipei’s defense, scoring point after point with ease.

According to tournament rules, reaching the semifinals automatically ensures at least a bronze medal for Bangladesh.

They will face Nepal tomorrow in a battle for the group championship.
