Truck-easybike collision leaves 2 dead, 3 injured in Khulna

Two people were killed and three others injured after a truck collided head-on with an easybike on the Khulna-Satkhira highway this afternoon.

The accident occurred around 3:15pm in front of the Rural Electrification Office under Horintana Police Station.

The deceased were identified as Md Sheikh Didarul Haque, 30, of Paikgachha upazila, and Tapas Hor, also known as Sunu Hor, 60, of the same upazila.

Locals rescued the injured and took them to Khulna Medical College Hospital. One of the injured was later shifted to City Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment, while the identities of the three injured could not be confirmed immediately.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Helal Uddin of Horintana Police Station told The Daily Star that the bodies of the two deceased have been sent to the morgue of Khulna Medical College Hospital for autopsy.

He said one injured person is undergoing treatment at City Medical College Hospital, while the other two are receiving treatment at Khulna Medical College Hospital.

The OC said the truck driver fled the scene, leaving the vehicle behind. Police seized the truck and are investigating the cause of the accident. Legal action is underway.
