A woman is fighting for her life in the ICU after physicians at a private hospital in Dhaka's Uttara treated her based on the CT scan report of another patient, alleges her husband.

Md Manik Saodagar, 64, filed a general diary with Uttara West Police Station on Friday, accusing Hi‑Care General & Specialized Hospital of gross medical negligence.

Manik told The Daily Star that he admitted his wife, Jahanara Begum, to the hospital on March 22 after she complained of a headache. He alleged that the authorities mixed up her records with those of another patient, and began treatment that worsened her condition. As her health deteriorated, Manik requested that she be transferred to Uttara Adhunik Hospital, but claimed he was made to pay Tk 1.20 lakh before the transfer was allowed.

At the new facility, Jahanara was admitted to the ICU in critical condition.

Hi-Care General & Specialized Hospital authorities, however, denied the allegations. Mir Omar Faruq, the hospital’s general manager, said, “These allegations are false. The patient received the exact treatment required throughout, based on her prescription and CT scan report.”

He claimed attendants mistakenly or intentionally took another patient’s report when leaving.
