Padma Bridge toll earnings cross Tk 3,000 crore
Toll collection from the Padma Bridge has surpassed Tk 3,000 crore since its inauguration on June 25, 2022.
The information was disclosed in a press release signed by Md Masud Rana Shikder, deputy director and public relations officer of the Bridge Authority, issued today.
The release said the bridge has ensured uninterrupted communication between Dhaka and 21 districts in the country’s south and south-west regions.
Vehicle movement and revenue collection have continued to increase since the opening.
The release added that the bridge has reduced travel time, created employment opportunities, and contributed positively to GDP growth.
Significant changes have been noted in the transport of agricultural, fisheries, livestock, and industrial products.
Electronic toll collection (ETC) systems are operational at the Mawa and Jazira plazas, allowing vehicles to pay automatically without stopping.
Radio frequency identification (RFID) cards enable faster toll payment, reducing waiting times and making travel smoother, said the press release.
The release further stated that the achievement was possible due to public cooperation and modernisation of the digital toll system.
