Moulvibazar a symbol of neglect under fallen regime: Tarique Rahman

Healthcare institutions will be established on a priority basis in neglected areas, BNP chairman says

BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman today said Moulvibazar stands as clear evidence of the authorities’ neglect, as the previous government failed to ensure even basic healthcare facilities in the region.

Speaking at a rally at Sherpur Ainpur playground in Moulvibazar as the chief guest, Tarique criticised the fallen regime for depriving the district of development.

After launching BNP’s election campaign from Sylhet this morning, this was his second rally on his way back to Dhaka by motorcade.

“After coming to power in 2008, an authoritarian government took away people’s voting rights. At the same time, it deprived many regions of development. The fact that not a single medical college has been built in this area in 15 years is not just negligence; it is deception with people’s lives,” he said.

Tarique added that residents of Moulvibazar are still forced to travel to Sylhet or Dhaka for medical treatment, risking time, money, and even their lives.

“Medical colleges and healthcare institutions will be established on a priority basis in neglected areas,” Tarique vowed.
