BNP has announced a two-day programme to observe the Great Independence and National Day on March 26.

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi unveiled the schedule at a press conference at the party’s Nayapaltan central office today.

As part of the programme, the party will hoist the national and party flags at all offices in the morning. BNP leaders and activists will pay homage at the National Memorial in Savar, alongside the president and prime minister.

From there, they will proceed to Sher-e-Bangla Nagar to place wreaths at the graves of party founder and former President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia. A doa mahfil will be organised at the grave premises by Jatiyatabadi Olama Dal.

On March 25, BNP will hold a discussion meeting at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh at 2:30pm.

Rizvi described Independence and National Day as a milestone in the nation’s history, recalling Major Ziaur Rahman’s declaration of independence as a source of inspiration for people from all walks of life during the Liberation War.

BNP has already published a poster marking the occasion and will release special supplements in national dailies.

District and municipal units, along with associate and affiliated bodies, will also organise their own programmes.

Rizvi called upon leaders and activists to make the observances a success.
