Bangladesh deaths 4 times higher in Jan

A total of 322 Covid-19  patients died in January -- around four times higher than the 91 deaths in December.

In the last 24 hours ending at 8:00am yesterday, the health directorate reported 31 deaths from coronavirus infections.

After testing 45,358 samples, 13,501 patients were detected to have been infected with the virus. The positivity rate was 29.77 percent.

With this, the total number of deaths caused by Covid-19 rose to 28,394 and the total number of cases to 17,98,833.

Of those who died yesterday, 20 were male and 11 female.

The weekly analysis showed 100,196 confirmed cases in the seven days until Sunday -- around 49 percent higher than 67,425 of the week before.

After Covid-19 was first detected in the country on March 8, 2020, there have so far been three waves of the pandemic.
