Nirab Hossain’s ‘Shironam’ set for Eid release under new title
Nirab Hossain’s upcoming film “Shironam” is gearing up for a release this Eid-ul-Azha, though it will arrive under a new title, the makers have confirmed.
The film, directed by Anik Biswas, was originally slated for release during last year’s Eid. A first-look poster at the time featured Nirab with long hair, black sunglasses, layered chains and a black jacket. However, the release was postponed as production could not be completed on time.
According to the actor, filming of the remaining portions will begin next week. “Most of the film was completed last year. Only a song and a fight sequence are left. We will wrap up shooting with a continuous schedule starting next week,” Nirab said.
He added that there were no major setbacks, but the team chose not to rush the project. Scheduling conflicts also contributed to the delay, as co-star Bobby was abroad for a period, while Nirab himself travelled to London and Saudi Arabia.
Nirab confirmed that the film will be released under a different name, though the new title has not yet been disclosed. An official announcement is expected soon alongside a new poster.
Speaking about the Eid release window, Nirab noted that the local film industry has become increasingly centred around the two Eid festivals. “These are the times when audiences flock to theatres, so filmmakers naturally want to take advantage of that. But I believe films should be released throughout the year. We should also plan releases around occasions like Valentine’s Day, Pohela Boishakh, Independence Day and Victory Day,” he said.
Set in a contemporary context, the film sees Nirab play a character named Ibrahim. He adopted a long-haired look for the role and will appear in multiple styles throughout the film.
The cast also includes Salahuddin Lavlu, Shatabdi Wadud, Kochi Khondokar, Farzana Chobi and Dilruba Doyel.
