After nearly a decade of producing his own films, Indian actor Dev is set to make his directorial debut. Having previously worked as a creative director on several of his projects, he is now stepping into the role of director for the first time.

In his debut film, Dev has cast Subhashree Ganguly as the female lead. The popular on-screen pairing will reunite for their seventh film together. Adding to the buzz, the project also marks the return of Anirban Bhattacharya, who had been absent from Tollywood following a dispute with the federation.

Anirban was last seen on the big screen in “Raghu Dakat”. Efforts to reinstate him in the industry were recently led by Dev, who sought intervention from Artists’ Forum executive president Prosenjit Chatterjee. Following approval, Anirban’s inclusion was confirmed.

Details of his role remain undisclosed. The film is currently being referred to as “Dev 7”, with the final title yet to be announced.

Apart from directing, Dev has also written the screenplay and will appear in the film, taking on multiple roles including actor, producer, director, and writer.

The shoot is scheduled to take place over 50 days across June, July, and August, involving around 10,000 technicians. The film is expected to release during Durga Puja this year.

Dev and Subhashree’s last film together, “Dhumketu”, released in 2025, achieved notable box office success despite being shot earlier. The film reaffirmed the enduring popularity of the pair, who have now reunited for this new project.
