Chorki is all set to entertain audiences this Pahela Baishakh with its original film “Cha Gorom”. Directed by Shankha Dasgupta, the web-film stars Partho Sheikh, Safa Kabir, Rezwan Pervez, and Sarah Jabin Aditi.

The official poster was released on Chorki’s website on April 5, generating excitement among fans.

The web-film explores the daily lives, rights, and living conditions of tea plantation workers. “Cha Gorom” is scheduled to premiere on Chorki on April 14.

Talking about the film, Shankha Dasgupta said: "As a director, I felt that in Bangladesh, tea plantations have always been used merely as a backdrop. A tea plantation is a beautiful area where characters appear, with tea gardens in the background—it looks visually appealing. But I felt this needed to be broken. We wanted to go inside the tea gardens, and we did. We tried to explore the life within the tea gardens. I didn’t just capture the beauty; this time I got the opportunity to experience the lives of the workers inside the plantations."

Shankha Dasgupta also revealed that during his research in the tea gardens, he realised how little he—and most people—actually knew about them. He aims to present both the familiar and unknown aspects of tea garden life in “Cha Gorom”, promising more surprising insights as the content unfolds.

While the poster offers little about the characters, the upcoming teaser or trailer is expected to satisfy viewers’ curiosity. Like Pahela Baishakh, which symbolises leaving the old behind and welcoming the new, the film may carry a similar spirit, though the director has not specified.

The lead actors shared their thoughts about joining the project: Safa Kabir stated: "One of the main reasons for my interest in ‘Cha Gorom’ was director Shankha Dasgupta. He always tells unique stories, and his work has a clear perspective. At the same time, the story itself felt very powerful. It highlights an aspect of our society that we often overlook, though it is very close to us. That inspired me to be part of this project."

Rezwan Pervez added, "After seeing the director’s recent works, I thought it would be great to work with him. I got that chance, and the character I received is very challenging. You’ll understand why when you see the teaser or trailer."

Sarah Jabin Aditi said: "What I liked most about the story is how it subtly presents some harsh realities of life in the tea plantations."

Partho Sheikh revealed "Shankha Da told me there’s a role for me. After hearing the details, I felt it was a great opportunity, and I hadn’t worked with Shankha Da in fiction before. After hearing the story and the character, I was very inspired, and it felt like a rare project. That’s why I agreed."

The story also features A K Azad Setu. The story and screenplay of “Cha Gorom” were written by Saifullah Riyad.
