Actors Equity Bangladesh to hold memorial for Shams Suman

Actors Equity Bangladesh has announced a memorial event to honour National Film Award-winning actor Shams Suman, whose death last month left a deep impact on the country’s cultural community.

The programme, titled “Shams Suman… Smritite Amlan”, will be held on April 9 at 6:00pm at the Experimental Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in Dhaka.

In a statement, the organisation said the event has been arranged to pay tribute to Suman, who served as a vice-president of its current executive committee and was regarded as a respected colleague.

Fellow actors, admirers, and well-wishers have been invited to attend the remembrance gathering.

Suman passed away on March 17 after a long career spanning theatre, television, and film, where he made significant contributions and earned critical recognition, including a National Film Award.

Known for both his performances and his warmth toward colleagues, his sudden death cast a shadow over the cultural arena.
