Bangladesh records 17 deaths with measles and symptoms, matching May 4 peak
DGHS says 16 deaths showed measles-like symptoms, one was confirmed measles

The country recorded the highest number of deaths from measles and measles-like symptoms in a single day, with 17 fatalities reported in the 24 hours till 8:00am today.
Of them, 16 died with measles-like symptoms, while one death was confirmed as measles, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
For all latest news, follow The Daily Star's Google News channel. With the latest fatalities, the total number of deaths from measles and measles-like symptoms has risen to 545, according to DGHS data.
Earlier, on May 4, the country also recorded 17 deaths from measles and measles-like symptoms, the highest single-day toll before today’s figure.
