The Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF) on Wednesday appointed Giles Bonnet as the head coach of the Men's Under-20 national team.

The South African brings more than three decades of international coaching experience to the role. He served as head coach of Belgium from 2001 to 2007 and later worked as a strategic adviser to China's men's hockey team, which won the silver medal at the Beijing Olympics.

Under the agreement -- a memorandum of understanding -- Bonnet will prepare the Bangladesh Under-20 side for the upcoming Men's U-20 Junior Asia Cup and lead the team during the tournament.

BHF general secretary Ishtiaque Sadeque and Bonnet formally signed the agreement at the federation's office. Joint secretary Ariful Haq Prince and treasurer Mizanur Rahman Don were also present at the signing ceremony.
