Senior BNP leader and lawmaker Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury today termed the new cabinet a “good one”.

“It is a good cabinet. There are young people, senior people, and experienced people. It will be enough if the government has honest intentions,” Khosru told reporters after taking his oath.

He also said people of Bangladesh must have the opportunity to take part in the economy. The benefits of the economy must reach the people of the country.

Khosru said the government will prioritise investment and an environment better for business.

He said they want to take the country out of the oligarchic economy of the fascist period.

“We want an economy where everyone can take part. We will make sure that the benefits of the economy reach everyone. The transformation of democracy has already begun in Bangladesh,” said the BNP MP.

When asked about the upcoming Ramadan, Khosru said, “I do not see any problem ahead. We have just taken responsibility. I do not think there will be any trouble. There will be no more syndicates in Bangladesh.”

He said local and foreign investment is falling, imports are decreasing, employment is going down, poverty is rising, and growth in the private sector is also poor.

“To move up from here, we have to go for large-scale deregulation,” he said.

Khosru said that they want to increase both local and foreign investment and create more jobs. Along with employment, they will also work to increase skilled manpower. “Whether people work in the country or abroad, their standard of living should improve.”

Talking to the reporters, Shahiduddin Chowdhury Anee sought cooperation from all.

He said everyone must work together to meet people’s expectations, and only through united efforts can a beautiful Bangladesh be ensured.

“Differences in views and paths may exist, but for the sake of the country, everyone must stay united. With sincere cooperation from all, the elected government will build a prosperous and beautiful Bangladesh,” he said.

Zonayed Saki said, “We believe this parliament will fulfil everyone’s expectations. There is a challenge in the economy, law and order, corruption, and government institutions. We will work on these issues with sincerity.”

“There will be differences and criticism among us, but we will remain united. Just because we are in an alliance government does not mean we will agree on everything. In fact, we are together because there are many issues on which we disagree,” he added.

Major (retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed said, “I hope this cabinet will be successful. I hope it will succeed in fulfilling the hopes and aspirations of the people.”

Shama Obaed said, “Under Tarique Rahman’s leadership, we will maintain relations and communication with all countries. We will give importance to protecting our national interests, safeguarding the interests of our people, and upholding equality. This will be our foreign policy.” Sultan Salahuddin Tuku, said, “I will carry out the responsibility given to me with honesty and dedication. My responsibility has increased. I will stay focused and work with full attention.”
