Woman, trader rescued, alleged abductors held
Police rescued a housewife and a trader in two separate raids and arrested three alleged abductors on Tuesday.
A housewife abducted from village Deya in Kaliganj upazila of Satkhira on May 29 evening, was rescued from a house at Jessore town on Tuesday night, reports our Satkhira correspondent.
Police also arrested the alleged abductors -- Shamim Reza, 24, son of Sohrab Hossain and Abdus Salam, 30, son of Jinnat Ali of Deya.
Medical test of the victim, wife of Abdullah Al Mamun of the village, was done at Satkhira Sadar Hospital on the same day.
According to the woman, Shamim and Salam were making an indecent proposal for the last two months which she refused.
When she was going to her relative's house on May 29, the accused waylaid her and gagged her mouth with a cloth, she alleged.
They took her to Jessore town by a microbus, confined her to a room and raped her.
In Chapainawabganj, a small businessman was rescued on Tuesday evening from Moharajpur-Ghorastand area under Sadar upazila eight hours after his abduction, reports our correspondent.
Police quoting victim's family members said Anjan Das, 60, of Babu Para in Shibgonj municipal area, was going to court by a passenger bus for attending a case.
When the bus reached Mohananda toll plaza point at around 12:45pm, five to seven abducted him from the bus. Later, they took him to Moharajpur Ghorastand area on the outskirts of the town.
Police rescued Anjan at around 8:00pm from the spot and later arrested Moslem Uddin, son of Fazlur Rahman of Chakdoulatpur under Shibgonj municipal area.
Victim's son Supriya Kumar Das filed a case against seven people including Rakibul Hasan Biru, president of Bangladesh Chhatra League, Chapainawabganj district unit, in this connection.
Rakibul Hasan Biru, however, denied the allegation and said the victim's family filed the abduction case against him to tarnish his image.
