College teacher on remand
Detective Branch (DB) police yesterday took lecturer of Sonahat Degree College Ashraful Alam on two-day remand in connection with a case lodged against eight people here on Wednesday.
Earlier, they sought a seven-day remand for Ashraful. However, the court granted a two-day remand.
DB police arrested Ashraful Alam and six other people on Wednesday including lecturer of Ranochandi School and College Swapan Kumar with 88 answer scripts of English 2nd part of HSC examination 2011.
They were arrested on charge of helping 50 HSC examinees to rewrite the answer scripts given by Dinajpur Education Board to Subol Kumar, lecturer (English) of Sonahat Degree College at Bhrungamari in Kurigram district.
Subol and his colleagues brought the answer scripts to Rangpur after contacting the examinees over cell phone and allowed them to rewrite the answer scripts in exchange of money.
On a tip-off, DB police arrested them from Khalea under Gangachhara upazila and other places in Rangpur town.
Meanwhile, the managing committee of Sonahat Degree College held a meeting yesterday.
As president of the committee Mostaque Hossain MP was absent, the other members could not take steps against the two lecturers Subol and Ashraful Alam.
