Stumbling upon ‘churiwali’ Moushumi at a railway station

Popular actress Moushumi was seen selling bangles at a railway station. Amidst the scorching heat, she was carrying a basket of bangles on top of her head. She went out to customers with a smile to sell colourful ranges of churis (bangles). However, whenever she got tired, she momentarily removed the heavy weight of the basket to find relief amid the chaos of city life.

Citizens gathered around to take a peek at the actress, and they were shocked!

As it turns out, Moushumi was preparing for her upcoming film, "Bhangon", in which she plays a churiwali (bangle seller).

Due to the requirement of the story, the actress is seen roaming around various areas of Dhaka, including stations, to sell bangles.

Directed by Mirza Sakhawat Hossain, the shooting of the government-funded film took place last week in various stations.

The noted actress told The Daily Star what attracted her to the role.

"Throughout my acting career, I have portrayed various characters, with glamorous and completely non-glamourous looks. However, audiences have always showered me with love and appreciation when I played realistic characters on screen. 'Bhangon' is one such movie, which touches upon human emotions which will surely touch the audience's hearts,"mentions Moushumi.

She also added that she feels a sense of satisfaction as an artiste to play such a challenging role on the silver screen.

"I am really enjoying the role, and I have given my 100 percent to dive deep into the character and portray her struggles and emotions beautifully in the movie."

Director Mirza Sakhawat Hossain gave The Daily Star a brief synopsis of the movie.

"The film is based on the disparity in the minds of Dhaka dwellers. Moushumi plays one of the pivotal characters in the movie, and this is the first time that she will be playing such a character," he stated.

The actress is also working on another project named "Deshantor". The government-funded project will be directed by Ashutosh Sujon

"Deshantor" is based on a novel written by renowned poet Nirmalendu Goon. It revolves around the theme of patriotism and women empowerment. In the movie, Moushumi will be playing the role of Aunnopurna.

 In 2004, the popular actress garnered widespread appreciation for her role in Zahid Hossain's directorial film "Matritwa", where she played the role of Humayun Faridee's wife.

Moushumi's last feature film "Souvagoo" was released last Eid.
