After remaining closed for several months due to a shortage of films, Bogura’s modern cinema hall Modhuban Cineplex is set to reopen ahead of the upcoming Eid season. The theatre plans to resume operations by screening “Prince”, starring Shakib Khan.

Officials of Modhuban Cineplex recently said the theatre, which had shut down under the burden of financial losses, is now preparing for a fresh start. By screening “Prince” during Eid, they hope to revive the cinema hall and attract moviegoers once again.

However, they believe that surviving solely on local films released during the two Eid festivals may be difficult given the current state of the country’s film market.

RM Yunus Rubel, the owner of Modhuban Cineplex, said, “We are hoping to screen ‘Prince’. We have high expectations from the new government. Alongside quality local films, if we are not given the opportunity to regularly import foreign movies, we may stumble again.”

SM Yunus Rohan, director of the cineplex, said they are restarting operations while keeping in mind the livelihoods of their employees and the demands of moviegoers. According to him, all preparations are underway to welcome cinema lovers during Eid-ul-Fitr.

Due to continuous losses, the theatre had previously been converted into a community centre. However, the announcement of its reopening has brought renewed excitement among the workers and staff.

Shajahan, who has been working at the establishment for 50 years, said that after months of uncertainty, they are now holding onto the hope of getting their jobs back.

Leaving behind the bitter experience of losses, everyone involved hopes that a festive atmosphere will once again return to the Modhuban premises with Eid approaching.
