Eid 2026: Leading ladies taking centre-stage
With Eid just around the corner, discussions about new film releases are already in full swing in Dhallywood. Some predict a record number of releases this Eid, while others question whether there are enough cinema halls to accommodate them all. But who are the leading ladies of the films awaiting release? Let’s take a look.
Raihan Rafi is regarded as a successful filmmaker whose new projects consistently draw audiences to cinemas. Almost all the films he has directed have generated significant interest among viewers. His latest film, “Pressure Cooker”, is among the titles lined up for release this Eid. The film centres on female protagonists. Shobnom Bubly stars as one of the leads, alongside Nazifa Tushi. Mariya Shanto and Snigdha Chowdhury also play important roles in the film.
Directed by Redoan Rony, “Domm” is also set for release this Eid. The star-studded production was shot in Kazakhstan as well as in Bangladesh. Puja Chery appears in the lead role and will portray a fresh character in a new storyline.
Tasnia Farin is set to appear as a leading lady this Eid in the film “Prince”, opposite Shakib Khan. The film is directed by Abu Hayat Mahmud. Through “Prince”, Farin is pairing with Shakib Khan for the first time.
The Eid line-up also features two Indian actresses. In addition to Tasnia Farin, “Prince” includes Indian actress Jyotirmoyee Kundu.
Meanwhile, the film “Rakkhosh” is also slated for release this Eid. Opposite Siam Ahmed, Indian actress Susmita Chatterjee plays the female lead. The film is directed by Mehedi Hasan Hridoy. In that sense, two Indian actresses will have films released this Eid season.
Bidya Sinha Mim is also among the leading ladies of this year’s Eid releases. After quite some time, one of her films is arriving in cinemas during Eid. She stars opposite Arifin Shuvoo in “Malik”, directed by Saif Chandan.
Sabila Nur made headlines last Eid as Shakib Khan’s co-star. This Eid, she once again returns to the silver screen as a leading lady in Tanim Noor’s “Bonolota Express”, based on the novel “Kichhukkhon” by the acclaimed writer Humayun Ahmed. Sabila plays the character Chitra in the film, marking her first time as a leading lady in a Humayun Ahmed adaptation.
Apu Biswas is returning to the screens after a hiatus, and she will be seen starring alongside Shajal Noor for the first time in “Durbar”, directed by Kamrul Hasan Fuad.
