Actress Sumaiya Shimu has been away from regular acting for quite some time. However, many of her fans believe that she has now settled abroad. She frequently faces questions about this. In a recent Facebook video message, Shimu clarified that she has not moved overseas. She said she has always lived in Bangladesh and intends to continue doing so.

Shimu said, “Through various sources, I’ve come to know that many people think I have left the country. Many have assumed that I am living abroad. The claim that I do not live in Bangladesh is not true. I have never been outside the country permanently. I am still in Bangladesh. I was here before, and I will remain here in the future.”

Many actors from the country have moved abroad in recent years. Some are striving to settle permanently in developed nations. However, the actress said that although she occasionally travels overseas, she has never felt the pull to settle there. Shimu explained, “I sometimes travel abroad for holidays, like many of you do. When I post those pictures on Facebook, many assume I’ve stepped away from the screen and perhaps moved abroad. Even when I meet people, they often ask me the same question.”

After a long break from acting, Shimu returned in January last year with Nuhash Humayun’s anthology web series “Dui Shaw”. Her performance in the series was well received.

At the time, Shimu revealed that she was expecting a child. After sharing the news, she stepped away from acting entirely. In 2023, she became the mother of twins and devoted her time to raising them. Later, she agreed to work on Nuhash’s project after being drawn to its story and character.
