Actress Kolpona hospitalised for 13 days
Actress Khaleda Akter Kolpona has been undergoing treatment at a hospital in Moghbazar, Dhaka, for the past 13 days after being diagnosed with a serious viral illness.
According to Imran Haso, executive committee member of the Actors’ Equity Guild, Kolpona’s condition has improved compared to earlier.
Imran Haso and Suchona Sikdar, the guild’s law and welfare secretary, visited the actress at the hospital on Monday and enquired about her health.
Imran said Kolpona’s entire body had been affected by the viral infection. At one point, she was unable to speak for four to five days. However, her condition has now improved considerably, and she is expected to return home from the hospital sometime this week.
Kolpona has also asked everyone to pray for her speedy recovery.
Kolpona began her acting career as a leading actress during the era of black-and-white films. Over her long career, she went on to establish herself as a versatile performer, particularly through roles as elder sisters, sisters-in-law and mothers.
She is no longer a regular presence on screen but occasionally appears in television dramas. Her most recent film was “Tochnoch”.
