Horror film “Scream 7” is set to release on February 27 in the United States and several countries worldwide, including Bangladesh, where it will open at Star Cineplex. The American slasher blends fear and mystery, serving as a sequel to “Scream VI” and the seventh instalment in the long-running Scream franchise. Since its debut in 1996, the series has secured a timeless place among horror-thriller enthusiasts. Series creator Kevin Williamson directs the film, marking the first time he has helmed a full instalment.

The cast includes Neve Campbell, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, David Arquette, Matthew Lillard and Courteney Cox. It promises the franchise’s signature thrills while exploring themes of relationships and confronting the past, combining modern horror with a classic tone.

Following the departure of directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett in August 2023, Christopher Landon was initially hired but later exited amid creative restructuring after the departures of Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega. Campbell confirmed her return in March 2024, and Williamson subsequently took over directing duties. Filming began in January 2025 and concluded in March.

The story follows Sidney Prescott, now living quietly in Indiana, as a new Ghostface killer targets her daughter, forcing her to confront her past. Roger L. Jackson reprises the voice of Ghostface. According to Deadline Hollywood, the film is projected to post a strong opening weekend, potentially becoming the franchise’s second-highest debut after “Scream VI”.
