One of the country’s leading cultural organisations, Chhayanaut, marked Kaalratri on March 25 with a solemn and distinctive programme, paying homage to the martyrs of the brutal 1971 massacre carried out by Pakistani forces on unarmed Bangalis.

The memorial event began at 8:00pm on Wednesday at the organisation’s cultural centre in the capital. Members of Chhayanaut lit candles and offered tribute through music, creating a poignant atmosphere of remembrance.

Holding candles in their hands, the performers raised their voices in unison, presenting a series of timeless songs including “O Alor Pothojatri”, “Nahi Bhoy Nahi Bhoy”, “Dukkhe Amar Poran Kande”, and “Aguner Poroshmoni”.

The 16-minute programme was broadcast live on Chhayanaut’s official Facebook page, allowing audiences across the country to join in the tribute.
