The Bangladeshi documentary “Payer Chhap” is set to be screened at several universities and schools in China, extending the international reach of a film that has already drawn attention for its portrayal of resilience and determination.

A special screening of the much-anticipated film "Rockstar" was held yesterday, attended by lead actor Shakib Khan, the film's cast and crew, director Azman Rusho, and members of the media.

The selected projects are "Alowkik Rajhas", the debut feature by Bangladeshi filmmaker Rajib Rafi, and "Before the Earth Collapses", a multinational co-production directed by Japanese filmmaker Noriko Yuasa.

The narrative of “Nishi” centres on a tea worker’s daughter whose education is interrupted due to a severe water crisis. A timber trader, Lalchan, attempts to exploit the situation by offering a tube well in exchange for marriage to the minor girl, forming a story that reflects environmental strain and social vulnerability.

The season is titled “Revolutionary Cinema: The Passion of Ritwik Ghatak”. It has been curated by filmmaker and academic Sanghita Sen.
