Channel i to honour four cultural icons with special programmes

Channel i has announced a day-long line-up of special programmes today (July 19) to honour four distinguished figures of Bangladesh’s cultural scene.

The date marks the death anniversary of celebrated writer and filmmaker Humayun Ahmed. It is also the birth anniversary of legendary actress Kabori, actor-director Afzal Hossain, and acclaimed writer Qazi Anwar Hussain.

The special programmes began with “Gan Diye Shuru” at 7:40 am. At 3:05 pm, Channel i will screen “Nondito Noroke”, the film directed by Humayun Ahmed and produced by Impress Telefilm.

At 6 pm, the channel will air “Romancho Lekhonir Jadukar: Qazi Anwar Hussain”, a documentary directed by Iftekhar Munim. It will focus on the author’s life, literary work, and the creation of the popular “Masud Rana” series.

A special programme titled “Mohomoyi Kabori” will follow at 6:20 pm. Hosted by Abdur Rahman, it will look back at Kabori’s acting career, personal life, and contribution to Bangla cinema.


Today’s programmes will conclude with “Jubokdoy Aj” at 8:20 pm. Hosted by novelist Imdadul Haq Milan, the episode will feature Afzal Hossain, who will speak about his acting career, filmmaking and experiences in the industry.
