Shakib Khan to headline Himel Ashraf’s next film

Director Himel Ashraf is set to reunite with actor Shakib Khan for a new film, marking their third collaboration following “Priyotoma” and “Rajkumar”.

“Priyotoma”, released in 2023, emerged as one of the year’s biggest box-office successes, earning praise for its emotional narrative, soundtrack, and the on-screen pairing of Shakib Khan and Idhika Paul. The film also marked Himel Ashraf’s return to feature filmmaking after a six-year break.

While their follow-up project, “Rajkumar”, generated significant anticipation, it did not replicate the commercial success of “Priyotoma”. Since then, Himel Ashraf has remained largely absent from directing.

Speculation about the new project intensified after SVF Alpha-i Entertainment Limited Chairman Mahendra Soni shared a photograph featuring Shakib Khan, producer Shahriar Shakil, and Himel Ashraf, captioning it: “Let it begin again.”
Aajker Patrika reports that the film’s story has been finalised and the project is currently in pre-production, with an official announcement expected next month.
According to the director, the project will be a family drama centred on a romantic love story and is planned for release next year. The female lead has not yet been announced.

Unlike “Priyotoma” and “Rajkumar”, which were produced by Versatile Media, the upcoming film will be backed by SVF Alpha-i Entertainment Limited.
