Raihan Rafi’s ‘Andhar’ gets new release date

Raihan Rafi’s “Andhar”, which was previously scheduled for release in October, will now hit theatres on March 26 next year, coinciding with Independence Day.

The makers announced the new release date in a video shared on Tuesday evening, confirming earlier speculation that the film would not be ready for its planned October release.

In the video, Chanchal Chowdhury addressed audiences, saying, “You have been with us and continue to support us. Stay with us for just a little longer.”

Director Raihan Rafi said the film could have been released as early as October 16, but doing so could have compromised the quality of its visual effects.

“If we wanted, we could release the film in October, even on October 16. But the VFX might not be up to the mark. I don’t want to compromise in any way. So, instead of October or December, we will release ‘Andhar’ on March 26 next year, outside the Eid season,” Rafi said.

Produced by 221B Films, “Andhar” stars Siam Ahmed, Chanchal Chowdhury and Nazifa Tushi, alongside Mostafa Monwar, Farrukh Rehan and others.

According to credits featured on the film’s poster, Shakib Chowdhury, Bassbaba Sumon and Adnan Adib Khan are associated with the story. Those involved with the project have described “Andhar” as a horror film.
