BTV brings back ‘Notun Kuri’, applications open from October 1
Bangladesh Television’s (BTV) popular talent-hunt programme for children and adolescents “Notun Kuri” is set to return with its 2026 edition.
Applications for “Notun Kuri 2026” will be accepted from October 1 to 31, according to a notice published on BTV’s Facebook page on Tuesday.
The programme aims to discover talented children and adolescents from across the country and encourage them to take part in cultural activities.
The initial selection rounds will be held in different parts of the country. This will be followed by divisional-level selections, with the final round and grand finale scheduled to take place in Dhaka.
The competition will feature several categories, including acting, recitation, storytelling and comedy, classical and modern dance, patriotic and modern songs, Rabindra Sangeet, Nazrul Sangeet, folk songs, and Hamd-Naat.
Participants will be divided into two groups based on age. Children aged six to under 11 will compete in Group Ka, while those aged 11 to 15 will compete in Group Kha.
The Qirat competition will have a single age category for participants aged 12 to 17.
Launched on BTV in 1976, “Notun Kuri” is one of the country’s best-known platforms for nurturing the cultural talents of children and teenagers. Over the years, many artistes have gained recognition in singing, acting, dancing and recitation through the programme.
