Keya Payel makes web film debut with Arifin Shuvoo

On July 15, Keya Payel caused quite a stir on social media when she posted “Happily Married” on her verified Facebook page alongside a photograph with actor Arifin Shuvoo. The post initially led many to wonder whether the actress had actually tied the knot. It was, however, the announcement of her first web film, Chorki Original “Happily Married”.

Directed by Jahid Preetom, the Ministry of Love film is produced by Chorki and co-produced by Chabial. It is scheduled to premiere on Chorki on October 8.

With the release approaching, the project has once again drawn attention online. While viewers have expressed their anticipation for the film, some have jokingly asked when Payel herself plans to become “happily married”.

Payel did not shy away from the question.

“I believe in fate. So, let’s see when it happens. It will happen when it is written in my fate, and everyone will know about it. But for some reason, I feel it will happen quite suddenly,” she said.

For now, however, the actress is more focused on work. Alongside television dramas, she has been busy with endorsements and fashion runway appearances. She is also set to travel abroad in early October and is currently completing her prior commitments before leaving. She expects to return towards the end of the month.

Having seen Payel across different mediums, many of her fans have also been waiting for her transition to films. The actress said she has received numerous offers over the years, particularly for web films, but had been waiting for a project that would present her differently from her regular television roles.

“I have received many offers for films and web films. In particular, I have been receiving web film offers since the format began gaining ground in Bangladesh. But I have always wanted to work on a character and story where people can see me differently,” Payel said.

“Since I regularly work in television dramas, I want audiences to see a special side of Payel whenever I work in a film or web film. I felt that ‘Happily Married’ was a film where viewers would be able to see me in a different way,” she added.

Payel also described her experience working with the team as a positive one.

“The ‘Happily Married’ team was very active and cooperative. I really enjoyed working with them, and it was a very comfortable environment. Our director Jahid Preetom, in particular, is very humble. Overall, it was a wonderful experience for me,” she said.

Presented by Sensation, “Happily Married” stars Arifin Shuvoo opposite Payel. She said the opportunity to work with Shuvoo was another reason she was drawn to the project.

According to Payel, Shuvoo possesses the qualities and screen presence she expects from a leading actor.

“Shuvoo bhai is very sincere, professional, quiet, and helpful. At first, I wondered whether I would be able to do it because he is senior to me and has so much experience. But while working with him, I never felt that pressure. I really enjoyed working with him,” she said.

With her first web film now approaching its release, Payel hopes audiences will discover a different side of her as an actor.

“I’m very excited about ‘Happily Married’. It is my first web film, and the story is wonderful. We have put a lot of care into the project. I want my fans to watch it and then tell me what they think. This time, I have brought something different for them—they will get to see a special side of Payel,” she said.
