A remake of the popular Bangladesh-India co-production “Hothat Brishti” is set to reach cinemas during Durga Puja this year.

Titled “Abar Hothat Brishti”, the film has been directed by Kamruzzaman and stars Arian Sarwar and Radifa in the lead roles. The director said shooting was completed around three months ago and the film has already received clearance from the Certification Board.

Speaking about the project, Kamruzzaman said remaking a beloved film was a major challenge. He added that the story had been adapted for contemporary audiences and that viewers would decide how successful the effort had been after watching the film.

The original “Hothat Brishti”, directed by Basu Chatterjee, was released in 1998 and starred Ferdous and Priyanka. The film became one of the most successful Bangladesh-India joint productions. In the remake, Arian takes on the role originally played by Ferdous, while Radifa portrays the character made famous by Priyanka.

Like the original, the new film is a joint production. It has been produced by Ashirbad Chalachitra and Impress Telefilm. The producers are now aiming for a Durga Puja release.
