Weakened ‘Kyant’s’ rain might linger tomorrow

Star Online Report

Rainfall in Dhaka and other parts of Bangladesh caused under influence of the weakened cyclone "Kyant" might linger until tomorrow, the Met office says.

The weather forecast for Dhaka and many other parts of the country is likely to improve after tomorrow.

"Kyant has reduced itself to a deep depression through precipitation," Md Abdul Mannan, a Met official, told The Daily Star. "It's breaking clouds are causing the rain."

"We hope, if the current state continues, the weather will improve from tomorrow," he said. "So far, signs are that Kyant will weaken further as it approaches the Indian coast."

With the current state of the weakened cyclonic storm moving west south-west, it is likely to make landfall (if it does not weaken further) in India's Andhra coast after tonight.

Under the influence of the storm, Dhaka and many parts of Bangladesh experienced light to heavy showers since yesterday. Today's dawn and morning were accompanied by moderate rain.
