Transport strike begins in Gaibandha

Traffic movement to and from Gaibandha has been halted since yesterday following disagreement between Gaibandha Motor Malik Samity and Gobindaganj Upazila Motor Malik Samity over forced running of busses on Sundarganj upazila routes.

A strike for an indefinite period was called by Zila Sarak Paribahan Malik-Sramik Oikya Parishad, Gaibandha, which resulted in suspension of all kinds of transport, including rickshaws and three-wheelers, causing immense suffering to the people.

Road communication between Gaibandha district headquarters and the rest of the country, including the capital, remained shut down.

A disagreement developed between Gaibandha Motor Malik Samity and Gobindaganj Motor Malik Samity over running buses on some feeder roads of Sundarganj upazila.
