Train service with Ctg resumes after 10hrs

Rail communication of Chittagong with the other parts of the country including Dhaka was restored after 10 hours of disruption following a train derailment at Fatehpur rail gait in Feni Sadar upazila in the port city today.

A cargo train derailed after colliding with a broken down truck early today, snapping rail link with port city Chittagong, reports our correspondent.

A relief train from Lakshman cleared the up line from Chittagong after 10 hours of the incident occurred.

Earlier, another relief train cleared the down line from Dhaka to Chittagong around 9:15am – some seven hours after the snap.

Those waiting to travel to Dhaka from Chittagong faced a major delay, according to what Sayedur Rahman, assistant director of Bangladesh Railway, told The Daily Star.

Feni Railway Station master Mahbubur Rahman said a relief train from Laksham cleared the mess and eased road transportation that was choked to a 20-kilometre tailback overnight.

Several trains including Bijoy Express, a train that left from Mymensingh, were delayed for the derailment.
