Sundarban Textile workers demand wage hike

Workers of Sundarban Textile Mills staged a demonstration in front of the mill yesterday, demanding a wage hike.

At least 300 workers took position in front of the main gate at the mill in the morning and staged a demonstration on Khulna- Satkhira highway.

They had been demanding to increase their daily wage to Tk 300 from Tk 120 for over one year, said the agitated workers.

"We get around Tk 2500-Tk3000 per month. It is very tough for us to bear the expenses of our families with this low income," said workers' leader Rexona.

The workers also threatened for an indefinite strike if their demands are not met.
