Search operation at Tampaco formally ends
The search operation at Tampaco Foils Ltd factory that was reduced to rubble in a massive fire triggered by explosions in Tongi of Gazipur on September 10 concluded formally this morning.
The month-long search operation at the factory where bodies and remains of 39 workers were recovered has been declared closed at 10:30am, Deputy Commissioner SM Alam said at a press briefing organised at the Bangladesh Army control room set up beside the site.
Thirty-six injured were also treated at local hospitals and many of them have been released already, our correspondent reports quoting the DC.
Of the bodies, eight that were burnt beyond recognition have been kept at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for DNA tests to confirm their identification.
Each and every inch of the factory rubble was searched for bodies. The dog squad of the Bangladesh Army was also deployed.
The search operation concluded as the possibility of finding more body was nil, the official said.
