Rail link between Dhaka and southern, northern districts snapped

Rail communication of Dhaka with southern and northern districts of the country remains suspended after a freight train derailed today near Bangabandhu Bridge in Sirajganj.

The rail service snapped around 11:30am after six compartments and the engine of the cargo train derailed near Bangabandhu Bridge west zone railway station in Sirajganj, our Pabna correspondent reports.

Officials of Bangladesh Railway were informed soon after the derailment, Sayed Iqbal, officer-in-charge of Government Railway Police in Sirajganj, said.
