Photos of PM, Bangabandhu torched

A college principal was arrested in Chatmohar upazila of the district yesterday on charge of torching photographs of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The arrestee is Md Abdul Hamid, 45, acting principal of Mirzapur Degree College in the area.

Police arrested Hamid from his house in connection with setting the photos of Bangabandhu and the prime minister on fire, said Officer-in-Charge of Chatmohar Police Station Ekramul Haque.

On Thursday, the arrestee set fire to the photographs with some waste papers at the college, it is alleged.

Later, Md Abdul Kader, president of the college managing committee, filed a case in this connection, said the OC.
