Mymensingh protest continues

The villagers in char (landmass emerging from riverbed) areas of Sadar upazila staged demonstrations yesterday, protesting the proposed list of land acquisition for infrastructure development of Mymensingh division.

They also demanded sparing their homesteads and farmlands from the proposed acquisition list.

They formed human chains and held rallies at different spots in this regard.

The local administration released a list of 4300 acres of land to be acquired.

The proposed acquisition area includes vast tracts of farmland and household areas in Char Anandipur, Char Gobindapur, Char Ishwardia, Char Bhawanipur, Char Durgapur, Char Jelkhana and Char Laxmir Algi in Mymensingh Sadar upazila.
