Locals demand higher price for acquired land

People living near Payra Sea Port areas yesterday at a street corner meeting demanded enhanced values for each decimal of land as the present value of the acquired land is five times higher.

They also urged the government to set up a separate land acquisition office at Kalapara upazila headquarters.

Earlier several hundred villagers brought out a procession in the upazila town and submitted a memorandum to the prime minister through Kalapara Upazila Nirbahi Officer to press home their six-point demands.

They demanded that no more land should be acquired without discussion with the owners.
