Indigenous students protest land acquisition
Leaders and activists of Tripura Students' Forum formed a human chain in the Press Club area yesterday, protesting acquisition of land in the name of Alutila Special Tourism Zone in Khagrachhari.
They urged the government not to allocate the Jhum land to Bangladesh Economic Zone Authority (BEZA) as many indigenous families survive on this land.
They said around 300 indigenous families of 10 villages under Matiranga and Sadar upazilas of Khagrachari district will be evicted if the plan to acquire the land is implemented.
